Running with rifles controls9/26/2023 ![]() The driver seat has the highest priority, then gunner slots, then passengers. All the squad members jumped into the vehicle as well. In this example, the player hopped into the APC as gunner. You need a modification key ( MOD) bound to use these commands. Pressing the PageUp key will increase the squad size to the max size a soldier of your rank can support.īeing the squad leader you can also split the squad into a vehicle sub-squad (which handles the vehicle and the mounted weapons) and a foot squad which will provide infantry support. This can be useful when you want to sneak into an enemy base without being spotted, or if you just want to be a lone wolf. Pressing PageDown will decrease your squad size. The driver AI will drive there, terribly, often running over other friendly troops. You can also open up the Map and click RMB on the Map to set waypoints further away. If, however, you are in the passenger seat of a vehicle and your squadmate is in the driver's seat, you can click RMB to command the driver to drive around the screen. Squad members will attempt to enter any vehicle that you enter and will fill as many seats as possible. I could also post you a concrete example there as I can't embed images here.Squad Move Command (double tap for charge*) You should join the official Discord, much more is being discussed there than on this Steam forum. We can't have the entire map having navigation paths as the AI might use the weirdest shortcuts and ending to not using roads much anymore and on top of that, the more nav paths an AI has to calculate, the heavier the CPU time. When given the order to move back, the AI will calculate the ordered position and check if there are navigation paths nearby that it could use to reach that position and there might have been one in the upward direction. I could only think of one eventuality: the tank not being on any of those nav path but not being too far away from one. About the situation of the tank moving forward into the enemy instead of moving is very unlikely. 150% of the tank length behind you should be enough for the vehicle to not turn around but just reverse move to that spot. In the situation you described, if you tell your AI driver to move back, it should reverse to that spot, in case the vehicle is on a navigation path. Usually those are the roads and also some offroads. There are pre-defined logical navigation paths for vehicles in RWR. I would love nothing more than a detailed explanation on how the driving AI in this game works, because when I clicked a spot behind my tank and my driver drove forward instead, this wasn't insubordination - this was stupidity (even though we all know that computers can be dumb). I'm talking about simple clicking a going. I'm not even talking about operations like those in the Company of Heroes series, where right-clicking and dragging can order your tank to move to a position and face a certain direction with its front armour. In an earlier case, in which my tank was off road, and I clicked on a spot about two tank-lengths in front of my tank, my AI driver still took a detour, reaching the nearest road before arriving at my desired spot, instead of moving forward towards my desired spot along the shortest path. Before he could run each and every one of the enemies over, several enemies fired their RPGs, and my tank was toasted. My driver drove forward and straight into a crowd of enemies. Logic would dictate that the most reasonable method to reach this point is reversing, right? Not in this game. I saw a group of enemies in front of my tank, so I ordered my driver to fall back by a bit - Now, I'm not talking about somewhere on the other side of the map, but literally a spot behind my tank, about 1.5 tank-length away. Now the long story: I was the gunner and commander of a tank.
